Don't forget: Sock Hop this Saturday, March 23rd

In collaboration with CM School of Fine Arts, Albany NY AIDA is sponsoring a SOCK HOP as a fundraiser to support the scholarship program for students in need. There will be a slow dance and a jitterbug lesson. In addition, you will be entertained by Mark Ciafardo who will be singing some Frank Sinatra Classics. The dance starts at 6:30 and ends at 10:00. CM Fine Arts is located at 17 Executive Park Drive, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Donation $20.

Change of Date: Oscar and Lenka Pedrinelli

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to reschedule our event with Oscar and Lenka. The new date will be Saturday, Aril 6, 2024. The workshop will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Since their time here is limited, we are offering one workshop on the basics of International Foxtrot. All levels of dancers are welcome. No partner is necessary. Swing-Jive-Jitterbug

The first Learn and Practice session on Swing-Jive-Jitterbug was held on Wednesday, March 6th at the Giuliano studio. It is not too late to join the fun. The class meets from 7 pm to 8 pm at 48 Huron Street in Albany. The cost for AIDA members is $15, and nonmembers are $20. Each week there is a short review before moving on to new topics. Oscar and Lenka Pedrinelli coming to the Capital Region

Albany NY AIDA is pleased to announce that Oscar and Lenka Pedrinellil will be conducting workshops in Foxtrot and Quickstep. The Pedrinellis recently retired from competitive dancing. They are one of the top professional ballroom couples. Together they were five-time finalists in the Ohio Star Ball, 2-time USDC finalists, and finalists in the international UK Blackpool Rising Stars. Since retiring from competition they have been teaching ballroom dance in New York City and Washington, D.C.

Benefit Dance for Teens in Need

Albany NY AIDA is proud to be collaborating with CM School of Fine Arts to host a Sock Hop on Saturday, March 23, 2024. All proceeds will be used to sponsor students in the CM Fine Arts High-Risk Kid’s Scholarship Program. There will be a Jitterbug and slow dance lesson taught by AIDA-accredited instructors. In addition, there will be a singer performing Frank Sinatra songs. The dance begins at 6:30 PM and goes to 10:30 PM. A donation of $20 will be used for the scholarship fund. Come and join the fun, get some exercise, and help a worthy cause.

Sunday, March 3, 2024 Michael Choi Workshops and Lessons

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the George Gershwin classic “Rhapsody in Blue” Albany NY AIDA is preparing a formation team to perform at the USA Dance Ballroom Dance Week Celebration which is held the third week of September.

Michael Choi will be choreographing the piece and working with the group to prepare. Michael has competed as a professional nationally and internationally in Latin, Ballroom, and Smooth. He’s been a finalist in Rising Star Ballroom and Classic Showdance, and won many Open Professional Smooth competitions. He has been involved in choreography for numerous shows including consulting at Radio City Music Hall and the Lincoln Center.

This is a tremendous opportunity to work with an outstanding dancer and teacher.

If you are interested in participating there will be three workshops at CM Fine Arts beginning at 10:30 am and ending around 1 pm. The cost of the workshops is $25 each for AIDA members and $30 for nonmembers.
